Constructing Hope has been doing community projects with Habitat for Humanity, REACH Community Development Inc., Re-Building Center and City of Portland-Community Gardens. Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East: The students have attended one job site two separate days. The duties on the site that they have done are installing floors, cleanup of debris and many more tasks, putting in a total of 7 hours per person of volunteer work. http://habitatportlandmetro.org/
REACH Community Development: The students have built 10 planter boxes for REACH community gardens around the city. On May 31, 2012 five (5) students and one (1) instructor will participate in helping REACH do some light repairs to a local resident’s home; by installing a guard rail on the front porch. This volunteer work gives each student 7 hours of community service.
Re-Building Center of Our United Villages a Non-profit Organization: Students put in a lot of hard work at the Re-Building Center; moving materials and large items, loading and unloading materials. All the time learning what different materials are used in the construction trades. http://rebuildingcenter.org/
City of Portland-Community Gardens: The students are building kiosks and installing 8×6 shed for the City of Portland, Community Gardens. Sheds have been installed at the following parks.
